What’s the best location to host a film festival? You’re probably thinking the French Riviera, Park City, Utah or New York, right?
How about Carlsbad, California?
Surprised? We’re not. Carlsbad has been the home of the La Costa Film Festival (which runs this year from October 13-16, 2016) and this year we will be celebrating our four year anniversary. This beautiful, coastline city is nicknamed “The Village by the Sea” for good reason, as it sits right on the Pacific Ocean. It has both the laid-back vibe of Southern California and a blend of European charm with its beaches, boutique shops and sidewalk cafes. You can grab a street taco and a brew by the beach for lunch and then enjoy fine, decadent dining for dinner.
Carlsbad is probably best known for its LEGOLAND family adventures and stunning Flower Fields, where you can stroll 50 acres of blooming flowers. It’s also known for its annual Village Art Walk (April 28th-Oct. 6th), a self-guided walking tour of unique art and antique stores. With LCFF in town, Carlsbad is also becoming known as a great place to support new films and artists.
If that isn’t enough, Carlsbad’s benefits keep getting better: Carlsbad has a mild climate year-round with mostly sunny days and warm temperatures. It’s conveniently tucked between San Diego and Los Angeles (just a 90 minute drive north). Carlsbad’s 103,000 residents have eclectic interests from paddle board surfing to world-class shopping. The views of the Pacific Ocean at sunset are pretty hard to top, also.
Those are just a few of the many reasons why La Costa Film Festival is proud to call Carlsbad home. The French Riviera, Park City and New York all have their perks, but we think Carlsbad is the ideal city to host a film festival. Come see for yourself on October 13-16, 2016.
The La Costa Film Festival would not be possible without the continued support of our generous sponsors:
